Cruise Lines Responds to Spike of COVID-19 cases in Singapore

UPDATE (FEBRUARY 2023): With the lowering of Singapore’s Disease Outbreak Response System Condition (DORSCON) to GREEN LEVEL as of February 2023, the preventive measures and/or testing requirements mentioned within this article are no longer in effect. Guests are advised to enquire with the respective cruise lines for updated Testing, Vaccination Requirements and Preventive Measures.

Royal Caribbean and Genting Cruise Lines both announced on 17 July 2021 (Saturday) new changes to onboard health protocols, in response to the increase of COVID-19 cases in Singapore.

In an email sent to guests departing on Quantum of the Seas 19 July 2021 voyage, Royal Caribbean shared that they will be limiting the group size onboard for both public and F&B areas to 2 or 5 if everyone is fully vaccinated.

Guests will be considered fully vaccinated if they complete the full regimen of vaccination. They will be required to take two dosages of the Pfizer Bio-N-Tech or Moderna vaccine, and wait at least 14 days to be classified as ‘fully vaccinated.’

Guests will be asked to present their TraceTogether Application or their Vaccination Card to prove their vaccination status at check-in. They will then be given a coloured wristband to identify that they are able to dine in groups of five.

In addition, Royal Caribbean is requesting guests who have visited a KTV Lounge or is a close contact with someone who visited a KTV Lounge, to reschedule their cruise. If they are uncomfortable in sharing this information, they are requested to conduct a self Antigen Rapid Test at home, before proceeding to the terminal. These self-test kits can be purchased at any pharmacy around Singapore.

Similar to Royal Caribbean, Dream Cruises announced in a release that guests in response to the growing number of cases in Singapore, the cruise line will be requesting guests who have visited a KTV lounge, or is a close contact of a person who visited one, to postpone their upcoming voyages, or receive a Future Cruise Credit for the next booking. However, should they feel uncomfortable in sharing the information, they may complete a self-Antigen Rapid Test before heading to the terminal for check-in. This is on top of the pre-embarkation ART Test done at the terminal.

In addition, guests will be required to show their vaccination through one of the below methods

  • Via the TraceTogether or HealthHub Mobile Application

  • Download the Vaccination Certificate from www.notarise.gov.sg

  • Bring along the COVID-19 Vaccination Card

UPDATE: Dream Cruises confirmed with us that non-vaccinated guests will still be able to embark. Other activities will still be conducted in groups of five.
