Is this the end for Royal Caribbean’s iconic orange-yellow trampoline ball?

Royal Caribbean is making a change in its onboard offerings aboard a few of its ships, with the cruise line announcing the removal of the Sky Pad experience aboard the ships that currently offer it.

In an update sent to Travel Agents, Royal Caribbean instructed to “review all marketing materials to ensure that the experience Sky Pad offers is updated prior to this date”, with the deadline set for 31 March 2023.

At least 4 ships in the Royal Caribbean fleet currently offer Sky Pad as an onboard activity, including Singapore-based Spectrum of the Seas and sister ship Odyssey of the Seas, which have the venue already built-in from the start. Other ships include Mariner of the Seas and Independence of the Seas, which received the attraction during their Royal Amplification upgrades in 2018.

So What Will Replace Sky Pad?

As of now, Royal Caribbean International has not announced Sky Pad’s successor, or what will become of the space used to host the activity. In the same memo sent to travel agents, the cruise line only mentioned that “all of the activities hosted in the Sky Pad venue will continue to be complimentary and included in your client’s cruise fare”. It may suggest that the Sky Pad venue may be re-purposed, so it might not be a complete end to the iconic Orange and Yellow Ball.

No reasons have been given for the change, as of yet.
